P8- Explain how project management skills were used in the management if
an IT project.
Introduction:
I will be talking about the overall experience I had managing the development of my IT project
specifically the Snake game. I will further discuss in detail about how I was able to effectively create
project plans, manage time, resources, risk, and communication with stakeholders. I will also talk
about how I implemented the Agile methodology effectively by monitoring and controlling my
project to ensure success. Moreover, I will be reflecting on the behaviour I had towards my project as
an employee of the IT company and identify strategies I could have improved or changed for better
outcomes. Lastly, I will be suggesting detailed and well-defined improvements which could have
been implemented in my snake game project to enhance its overall performance, functionality, and
end-user experience for better chance of success.
Project Planning:
To ensure the success of my project, I had to make sure I planned out everything in detail and
determine everything beforehand when starting my project. This helped me determine the
approximate time I need to finish my project by defining all the tasks and separating them into
smaller iterations so that it would make it easier for me to meet small deadlines. It also helped me
feel like I am accomplishing something which helped me stay motivated and reduce procrastinating
time. I first determined the scope, objectives, limitations and constraints, and the deliverables of my
project to effectively plan. As you can see in the below, I have created a calendar chart which was
effective for my project plan because it allowed me to follow and keep on track with the small tasks I
have created to keep me aligned with the core goals.
Resource management:
For resources I have used were already built in desktop and software that were provided to me. This
was very convenient for me because I did not have to purchase the software and hardware with my
finance. Those resources were sufficient enough for me to finish my game project. However, I do
believe there might have been limitations to the hardware and software since they are not the
highest quality and for specialists which could have limited the potential, I had to create a better
functioning game with more features. However, the available resources I had still funded me to reach
my objectives and meet client requirements. I also made sure I mentioned what software and
hardware I am using and are available to me which led me to understand what the limitations can be.
, I have also done a feasibility study which helped me analyse what constraints I have, what available
resources I have, the usability of the game, and the legal considerations I had to learn about.
Creating a test plan had also helped me what I should expect out of my game so later on I can see
what went right and wrong. Before I created this table, I ensured I understood the feasibility first to
be able to know what I should expect of the game system and functions.
