Dear Diary,

Today was officially the worst day of my short, miserable life. It started as any ordinary day,
the crisp winter morning, laziness, dragging myself to school and registration. Then we had lessons,
art, English, maths and humanities. Then came lunch. I was starving! We got a place close to the
front of the line, Jakaria and me. We got our lunch and ate like... well, pigs.

It was on the last lesson, IT, that the problems began. Jakaria owed me 5 quid from last week and
something someone said reminded me of that debt. After the lesson, I confronted Jakaria, asking for
my money. He replied, saying he couldn’t pay me till next week and I swore at him good-naturedly.

Zack was probably depressed from the 1 hour detention he had to go to now, for throwing a water
balloon in the English class. I cant blame him for that, it's only the first week back. Anyway, he took
this the wrong way and got all aggressive, pushing me about.

I was not gonna take any of that, even if he was my best mate or if it was the end of school. Don't
get me wrong, I do feel partly responsible for what happened next but it wasn’t really my fault. I
wasn’t the one who started it.

I got all worked up and we beefed. One of the snakes called a teacher. It was Mr. Edwards, our class
tutor. By the time he managed to separate us, we had dealt good damage to each other.

We were taken to a room, where we learnt that we both had internal exclusion the next day. As I
sat, nursing my bruises, I thought about what I’d just done. This was ridicules. I’d just had a fight
with my best mate since...ever! Over a few quid! This was madness! I looked over to Jakaria but he
was sat, engulfed in a moody silence, purposefully looking away, ignoring me.

My insides squirmed as I thought all the possibilities; all the way I could have inverted this dreadful
incident. I could have ignored the comment on money. I could have not asked Jakaria for money. I
could have not sworn at him...
