1934

- A protestant confessional church breaks away from the Reich church

- Bishops conference issue pastoral letter stating “religion cannot be
based on blood, race or other dogma’s of human creation but only
divine revelation”
AUTURMN

- Two protestant bishops arrested but released after outcry

1935

- 700 Prussian bishops arrested for condemning Nazi neo – paganism
(new form of ‘olf religion’ based on Nordic mythology
1936

- Bishop of munster, Galen, thanks the Fuhrer for militarizing the
Rhineland and asks god to bless his endeavors

- The national socialist teachers league asks teachers not to teach
religion within school – lessons reduced
JUNE

- Confessional pastors criticize nazi ideology and hundreds are sent to
concentration camps and church funds confiscated
