● Primarily use ACER’s tool to mark your essays
○ It will not give you any advice or a mark per advice. Rather, it will just give you
a mark for both essays combined
○ Good to give you ACER’s opinion of where your essays are rather than third
party scoring
○ About €13 per attempt. Expensive but worth it, rather than spending hundreds
on a course (imo)
● Check 90+ Resources, these are very good for developing a set structure to score
consistently high in S2
○ Also has some free tokens to correct your essays and give advice/tips.
● Read “The Meaning of Things” by AC Grayling
○ Not groundbreaking by any means, but gets you reading and contemplating
different opinions. Also provokes you to think about a multitude of moral
issues. Good for S1 and S2
● Listen to the Minefield Podcast
○ Just even when you’re walking. It can be enjoyable and interesting. Talks
about two sides of an issue, which is important to do for GAMSAT (for
empathy)
● Pick a newspaper (e.g. New York Times) and set aside 30min each for reading
current affairs and columns/opinion pieces per day. Take little notes as you do so!
● Brainstorm a list of topics for both section A and section B
○ As you do, ask:
■ What function does it serve?
■ How does it exert itself in society?
● Benefits? Issues?
■ What are the consequences of its presence?
■ What are your personal experiences with it?
■ What are examples of it in society?
○ Connect each topic with one another and see how all topics are somewhat
interlinked. This will make essay plans so much easier.
■ E.g. Food has a connection with family, love, nourishment, etc. It’s not
just restricted to itself!
● Create a quote bank with each topic. Try to choose poignant quotes that are
adaptable to multiple topics and incorporate these into your essays.
