SAMPLE UNIT 4 - Managing an
Event

Assignment 2

Learning aim B: Investigate the
feasibility of a proposed event.

Learning aim C:
Develop a detailed plan for a
business or social enterprise
event.

1

,There are usually 5 different types of events:
● Celebration events - weddings, anniversaries and birthdays.
● Sports - football matches, the Olympics, and cricket matches.
● Business events - Christmas due, anniversaries.
● Social enterprise events - charity events, general parties.
● Entertainment events - festivals, outdoor cinema

St Mary’s Christmas Fate
This is a Christmas fair hosted at St Mary’s primary school annually, in December once
school has finished for the holidays. The purpose of this event is for the students to
enjoy Christmas with their friends and family. There are different activities around the
school for the students to do such as donkey rides, secret Santa and meet Santa. It is
also to bring together the friends and family of the school so that it is a community.
● This event is put into place to ensure that all students and their families feel a
part of a community at this event, everyone is welcome. I know that this was met
as I still attend these events with my family even though I don't attend school
anymore. I bring my friends that didn’t go to that primary school to come with me
and they all really enjoyed the experience.
● The main aim of this event is to generate a profit for the PTA which is put back
into the school to help with supplies for their education and to support a lack of
school funding, which enables for extracurricular activities to take place to help
enrich the children there. My aunty is part of the PTA and they generated a profit
of over £18,000 last year, their profit tends to grow as the years go by as the
event becomes more popular.
● To grow the members of the PTA to ensure that there is a large number of
parents investing their time into bettering the school for students. When I
attended the school, my mum was part of the PTA and her friend joined the PTA
after helping with the Christmas fate. This shows that parents in the school
community enjoy helping their children to enjoy their time at the school. This
highlights that these events help to grow the PTA and the community of the
school.
● To ensure that a large number of students attend. Last year over 80% of the
students attended Christmas fate, this shows that the students enjoy going to this
event highlighting that it is a success.
One of the ways the success of this event is measured by the profits raised. As I
mentioned before, the profits tend to grow year on year as more students attend. As
one of their aims is to ensure that all students, friends, and family feel welcome and
both me and my friends and family attend each year I believe that the event is

, successful. Each year there are different activities to do at the event and they change
with the times ensuring that there is something for each age group. This helps them to
gain more of an audience and having diversity at their event opens it up to more people,
this is helped as there are new members joining the PTA each year as new students
join the school. I believe that this event is successful as it caters to all different people
and age groups including parents, and I believe this needs to be done in order for an
event to be successful.

O2e Charity launch night
This is an event to introduce new members of the charity to existing and future charities
supported. The main purpose of this event is to introduce new volunteers to the current
charities that O2e supports both in the previous years and the coming year. It is aimed
at encouraging individuals to do their own events. Also, for the charities to be able to
share how the money and support from O2e have helped them, the children, families,
and friends involved.
● The main aim of this event is for people to celebrate the hard work that everyone
has done over the past year, through raising money and pushing themselves and
others out of their comfort zone.
● An objective of this event is to be able to sign up as many people to take part in
one of the charity's sets events such as the 5 hills challenge, which is a
challenging cycle over the course of one day.
● Another objective of this event is for the charities chosen for a donation of the
money raised over this year to be able to say what they plan to do with the
money and how it will help them grow as a charity. Also, for them to explain what
they do as a charity, how the money will help the children involved, families and
friends.
The success of this is measured by the number of people they can sign up for events
throughout the year, this is because the more people that contribute to events will mean
there is more money raised.
Another success factor of this event is to be able to celebrate the hard work people
have done by pushing themselves out of their comfort zone, making them push
themselves from their ordinary to the extraordinary which is the name of the charity.

Team Building
This event took place at the beginning of year 12, on the school playing field with an
inflatable crash course. This event takes place every year in September for all the
students are going to the Willington girls’ sixth form. The purpose of this event is for all
the students to be able to meet before school starts, giving them the opportunity to be
