In my view, rehabilitation should be the top priority, followed by incapacitation,
retribution, and deterrence.
Capital punishment is not a priority for me because I believe it should only be considered
as a last resort. If the criminal justice system puts in the effort to rehabilitate and help the
individual, then they should be given a chance to prove themselves and become better. Only in
cases where the individual has committed a crime worthy of capital punishment, should it be
considered, but even then, it remains the last option on my list of priorities. The United States is
a country with a high rate of capital punishment, but it cannot always be the solution. Capital
punishment is not a priority for me because I believe it should only be considered as a last resort.
