Coordinating services
Change4life incorporates numerous approaches into its campaign to promote the public
health. Two of the main ways it promotes its campaign is thorough coordinating services.
Change4life promotes healthy eating by including a range of agencies and settings and
services to bring its messages to a larger public audience. For change4life to be a
successful campaign, it needs to be backed and have its messages promoted and
reinforced. It's no use for example change4life to be promoted in the dentist but not in the
doctors, because it will send mixed messages and it won’t come out as strong. Change4life
is promoted in dentist as being wary if sugar and other hidden foods that can contribute to
tooth decay and enamel issues. For example as shown below (a) shows how food swaps
such as high sugary juice to milk benefits teeth. The dentist talks and speaks about the
danger of not brushing your teeth and about how to correctly brush your teeth, however
change4life features a block colour and fun images, making it memorable.
According to public health fingertips 28% of 5 year olds have tooth decay and among these
24% have more than 5 teeth affected. With change4life both the dentists, schools and the
consumers will know and be able to promote healthier options. With these two agencies
working together a wider audience will be able to see change4life. Children will also recall
those symbols remembering the font and block colours and be more conscious about
making healthier choices.

The dietician promotes healthy eating and advice such as recipes, books and ideas for
meals. For example as demonstrated above (b) families have a range of quick and easy
lunch and recipes that are both healthy and delicious. This helps to promote the change4life
messages as the dietician can print out these and hand them out. They are often under £5
and therefore very affordable. Parents of children from dietician can use these as references
to encourage a healthy lifestyle at a young age. This promotes health because it brings good
diet and healthy lifestyle into social norms and as a child grows up with these healthy
changes there likely to stick to these. According to statistics from nhs.com 13,466 families
joined change4life in the first year of its birth and 5,000 of these families were from dietician.

The nhs work very closely with change4life to incorporate its ideas into the school. For
example using the eatwell guide to plan meals and teaching cooking and nutrition into the
