Integrated Fuel Pump and Control (IFPC) - answer The Integrated Fuel Pump and
Control (IFPC) is the master source of fuel flow for the engine. It provides metered fuel
flow for the purposes of combustion and pressurized fuel for engine actuators as
commanded by the Electronic Engine Control (EEC). The IFPC incorporates a main,
boost, and servo pump. Fuel enters through the main fuel inlet into the boost pump and
is distributed to engine heat exchangers. Fuel then returns through the fuel manifold to
the servo and main pump, which supply fuel to the engine actuators and the fuel
nozzles in the combustor, respectively. The IFPC also incorporates five internal valves
to correctly control fuel flow and a resistance temperature device for temperature
sensing. The IFPC housing is fitted with multiple anodized caps which seal fuel ports
used only during manufacturing for product testing. It has two electrical connectors to
communicate with both channels of the EEC. Located at the 4 o'clock position mounted
to the fuel manifold.

Fuel Flow Meter (FFM) - answer The Fuel Flow Meter (FFM) measures the mass
flow rate of fuel used for combustion purposes. Fuel runs through the FFM before
flowing to the Fuel Flow Divider Valve (FFDV) and going to the combustor. It provides
an electrical signal to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) conveying the measured
mass flow rate. It is a magnetic pickup flow meter that generates two pulses, where the
phase shift between the two signals is proportional to the fuel flow rate. Located at the 3
o'clock mounted above the High Pressure Turbine (HPT) case

Fuel Flow Divider Valve (FFDV) - answer The Fuel Flow Divider Valve (FFDV) is
controlled by the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) and is responsible for distributing fuel
to the fuel nozzles. During engine startup, it directs fuel to the primary fuel nozzles, and
then evenly divides fuel between primary and secondary fuel nozzles thereafter. The
FFDV also acts as a seal for the fuel manifold, allowing excess fuel in the system to
drain into the Ecology Tank and preventing this fuel from draining into the combustor
during engine shutdown. Located at the 5 o'clock position mounted to the High Pressure
Turbine (HPT) case.

Ecology Tank - answer : At engine shutdown, the combination of engine burner
pressure and gravity drain fuel from the primary and secondary fuel nozzles and all
associated plumbing to minimize leftover fuel being spilled into the combustor. This fuel
drains into the Ecology Tank via the Fuel Flow Divider Valve (FFDV). The Ecology Tank
incorporates two float-activated shutoff valves. The first prevents the tank from over
filling in the event of an aborted engine start, where the tank has not ben emptied prior
to the aborted start. The second prevents air from being drawn into the Fuel Ejector
Pump flow path once the tank is empty. Located at the 6 o'clock position mounted on
the Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) case
