Cultural influences and Strategies within Sport
What is cultural influence?
The participation could get affected by cultural influence because this is when people have
different attitudes, beliefs or behaviour which are connected to every person identity. Also,
this makes you define yourself from everyone else which can make a barrier to participation
if you don’t fit in within your peers or it’s is against your religion.
Gender:
Gender is sex which means a person can be known as woman or male which is identity and
these two types of sex could have barriers to participate in sport because of their sex. For
example in boxing was the only sport for men at the beginning of the sport, boxing was a
sport that men only could participate in because it was to cruel sport for a woman to do and
most of the men did it. However, when the woman wanted to do it, which made
stereotyping because of what they said and in some country’s it is not promoting boxing
because other people like male and even female don’t like it which they don’t watch it and
make them not do this type of sport by not taking notice of which could become a barrier
for the woman to participate in a sport such as boxing because of other people opinion
woman could get intimidated to doing this type of sport which could prevent them from
doing this type of sport.
Another example could be a woman may not have the confidence to go to the gym which
can prevent them going to the gym because they may feel intimidated because of people
around such as males around the gym, surrounding them in. The way that they could
prevent this barrier is they could be going with someone so that they could feel more
confident when they are with someone in the gym and that then they could go in the gym
and start participating because someone is with them so they get the support and they get
the physical activity.
Age:
Once we get older our body becomes limited to its ability’s which means that the body has
limited abilities because of the body’s age, for example, a lot of older age will have bone
density decrease which makes their bones weaker and thinner which is known as
osteoporosis which means that their bones can break easier than other younger people also
there will be muscles decrease and decrease in metabolism which means that what they eat
they can put weight easier than others. Which this can prevent them from doing sport
because it may require you to move fast or contact which means that they are limited to a
sport that they can do after they get old. Which could be a barrier for them elder people.
Once you get older you get less opportunity’s for physical activity becomes accessible for
them. Because in some cases in some physical activity session, there will be age restriction
which could prevent people like elder age groups, form participating form sport.
Because of their age because there are no clubs for that age group also the exercise could
be dangers for them to do. The way that you could prevent this barrier from happening is
