Glycolysis: This is the stage where glucose is broken downwithin the cytoplasm of a cell to form pyruvate.

converts them into reactants that will be used in the Kreb’s Cycle.
, Kreb’s Cycle: This is the stage of reproduction where the energy
stored in nutrients is released through the oxidation of Acetyl
Coenzyme-A which is derived from carbohydrates, proteins, and
fats.
Factors that affect respiration:
Cigarettes: Nicotine does not directly affect the metabolic
processes of cellular respiration, such as glycolysis, the
Krebs cycle (citric acid cycle), and oxidative phosphorylation.
Instead, it mainly impacts respiration through its activity on
the nervous system, which influences respiratory rate and
depth. Chronic nicotine exposure, which is frequently caused
by smoking, can, however, have an indirect effect on these
processes because of its effects on metabolism and general
cellular health.
Glycolysis is not directly impacted by nicotine. Chronic exposure
to nicotine and other tobacco smoke components, however, can
alter insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism, which may have
an indirect effect on glycolysis. Nicotine may change the amount
of glucose available for glycolysis by causing insulin resistance
and disruption of glucose metabolism. Nicotine also has no direct
effect on the Krebs cycle or the link reaction. On the other hand,
oxidative metabolism and mitochondrial activity may be impacted
by long-term exposure to nicotine and other substances found in
tobacco smoke. The Krebs cycle can be hampered, and the
efficiency of ATP synthesis can be decreased by disruption of
mitochondrial function.
The method by which ATP is produced in the mitochondria using
energy produced by electron transport chain (ETC) complexes is
known as oxidative phosphorylation, and nicotine does not
directly block it. But carbon monoxide, which is present in tobacco
smoke, can attach to haemoglobin and lessen the amount of
