Planning an Event in the Light of Research
Different types of events and the factors affecting success

The Great British Food Festival
This event showcases the nation’s love of great food and drink with some of the country’s
most treasured locations. There are over 100 different food producers and makers at each
venue that provide stunning hot food and drinks alongside excellent live music. It is a
fabulous day out for the whole family with an admission cost of only £9 per adult which
includes free access to the extensive grounds and renowned gardens, including the
adventure playground with zip wire and sandpit. The Great British Food Festival (TGBFF) is
more than ‘just another festival’ as it provides a unique opportunity to explore new flavours
as well as beautiful venues. In 2017, TGBFF was successful as more than 125,000 people
attended the event which is why they have decided to extend its number of food and drink
festivals to 12 by taking place at different venues across the country. This event is also
exposed on major platforms such as The Telegraph, The Guardian and Shortlist.com which
allow the festival to gain a mass amount of recognition as they target specific demographics
that are traditionally more difficult to reach through other mediums.

Wireless Festival

The Wireless Festival is a music festival which takes place in London every year with a
fantastic line-up of music artists from a variety of genres. The music festival primarily
started as a rock and pop festival however as popularity grew, they expanded into other
genres such as hip-hop and urban music. In 2019, they had huge headline acts perform at
the festival such as Tory Lanez, Bugzy Malone, and Lil Uzi Vert etc. which brought a mass
amount of attention to the event. When the 2019 line-up was released, 135,000 tickets sold
out in record time within hours of going on sale according to promoter Festival Republic.
Wireless has been very successful with its ideal location of Finsbury Park which is really easy
to get to-and-from, meaning customers won't have to pay out a fortune on travel expenses.
Wireless tickets are also only £55-£62 which is affordable in comparison to other music
festivals that are over £200 like Leeds Festival. This makes it more accessible to more people
which results in more sales and profit for the company hosting Wireless.
