which follow each other in quick succession in an orderly sequence and lead into one

Football

Technical
A continuous skill in football can be running, this is a continuous skill as there is no obvious
beginning or end whilst having a regular rhythm. Every player uses this skill in football as
movement is vital in this sport.

A discrete skill is a throw in, this is a discrete skill as it has a clear beginning and an end.
The ball starts behind your head then is thrown onto the field of play keeping both feet on
the ground behind the touchline.

A serial skill in football is dribbling with the ball and then performing a cut back. Dribbling the
ball is the part of a continuous skill, whilst performing the cut back is a discrete skill. The
series of skills follow each other in quick succession meaning together they form a serial
skill.

Tactics

One of the tactics that a footballer could use to an opposition is talking to them when they
are marking them to try and frustrate them. This may lead to them losing concentration and
not performing at their best. This will be an advantage to the player using this tactic as he
will know that the opposition isn’t mentally prepared for the game which makes the
defenders job much easier.

A tactic that the whole team could use is the formation they are playing in, for example 5-3-2.
They would most likely use it to defend, as this tactic provides 5 players in the defending line
so the team might be good at counter attacking. They will let the opposition into their own
half and let them play. Until, they get the ball and explode with a counter attack releasing
their full backs to go with the attack. This would change the formation to 3-5-2 and let them
