Football SWOT Analysis

Strengths
Speed - Being fast will give several benefits. One of them can be when I’m marking a player
and we have a speed race to the ball, if he’s slower than I’m likely to get the ball. Another
one, when a ball is played to me and I have to run onto it. Being fast also allows me to move
into a good position quickly. Stamina - Great levels of fitness allow me to last longer on the
pitch. This means that I can still help the team in closing minutes of a game because I will
still have the energy to perform an attack. Work Rate - Work rate shows how hard you work.
Having a high work rate proves that you work as hard as you can to help your team out
throughout the game. It indicates that you’re not a lazy player and you strive to positively get
involved as much as you can in the game.

Weaknesses
Shooting – That’s one of the most important factors in football, because shooting provides

, goals for your team to win a match. It hasn’t been great for me as I cannot always get the
right technique to perform the right shot in a certain situation. However, I don’t play in a
position that I’m expected to be scoring goals. Confidence - Lack of confidence means that
you don’t believe in your abilities that much. This means that I tend to panic when I’m in a
situation where the team relies on me. This puts me under pressure that could conclude with
me performing something that I wouldn’t normally do and lose possession. Decision Making
– This is vital as it gives a conclusion if a player made a correct decision and if bad decisions
repeat in a match, the player might be substituted because of poor form. My decision making
lets me down when I have to pick a correct pass.

Opportunities
I play football a minimum of 4 times a week, which means that in long term effects I will
improve technically and physically, due to the intensity put on me and the amount of training
raised that I didn’t have before. I’m working with qualified coaches that give me ideas on how
to improve my football abilities and football awareness. Before every training session I do a
warm up which will eventually help me in making faster and better decisions on the pitch.

Threats
One threat can be that I might lose my place in the team if my form will start to be poor,
because of my weaknesses such as poor decision making skills. Another threat could be
that opposition’s players might easily get past me using their strength as I could be weaker
than them. Final threat could be that my confidence could let me down meaning that a goal
might be lost because of my fault of not going to an aerial battle against a bigger, stronger
player.

Development Plan
One of my many aims is to improve my shooting. I want to improve it so that I can help the
team when I will be in a certain situation to score a goal. I want to score at least 5
competitive goals in the time limit of scoring them by the end of this season. It’s achievable
as I’m regularly near the opposition’s goal with the ball and it’s relevant because this is one
of my weaknesses that I want to improve on. There are many opportunities for me to
complete this SMART target successfully, as I play football at least 4 times a week and it’s
all played at high intensity. This means that I will have the chance to try out different types of
shots and techniques, in order to make it successful when I’ll be put into a goal scoring
situation in a competitive match.
