Unit 6: Website Development – Assignment 2 & 3
Introduction:
This report consists of documentation and I have been asked to design a website for the organisation
named as Croydon Young Writers. This organisation provides an opportunity for 11 to 16-year olds
to practice and boost their writing skills in a safe environment. From this, I have been given assets
from the scenario for the website I will be making, and this would include the requirements of the
project, the site map of the website and the number of pages the website will have. Furthermore, I
will design the website by using storyboard templates to show a preview of how my website is laid
out and how the use of assets will be positioned before development.
When developing the website, I will be including use of screenshots to show evidence of my website
and testing will also be required to show that my website works on a range of different devices and
platforms such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox on laptops, desktops or mobile
devices. In addition to this, I will create two versions of my website to include both original and
optimised version. Once I have created the original version, I will gather feedback by asking two
clients to revise my website and ask what their thoughts are. Subsequently, based on the feedback
received, I will make any improvements on my website to optimise it and ensure it works
expectedly. Once I have designed and developed the website, I will evaluate it against the client
requirements, taken into consideration that I have met these and recommend any further
improvements if needed.
Purpose of Croydon Young Writers:
I have been asked to design and develop a website for young writers which is a voluntary group and
the purpose of this website is to provide an opportunity for 11-16-year olds to practice their writing
skills in a safe environment outside education or their learning hours. From this, Croydon Young
Writers will allow a group of individuals to share their written poetries, raps, stories and many more
which they can then publish their piece of information effortlessly via inserting an attachment on a
page I will be creating. There are many resources to include help and support for those that find it
difficult to start writing a poem or recording a video to rap. There will be provided templates that
will help them to continue after.
Target audience:
The target audience for the website that I am creating will be aimed for 11-16 years old based locally
to Croydon with an interest in writing – stories, plays, poetry, rap, letters, journals or blogs.
Client Requirements:
Croydon Young Writers has wanted me to deliver relevant content to the website I will be
developing and the requirements for this will include the following:
A profile of the organisation itself
Samples of written work by 11 to 16-year olds (or GCSE/ Level 2 Functional Skills students)
Reviews of some books targeted at the Young Adult market
An on-line form to permit young people to submit their own contributions
Links to web pages of similar groups/ organisations around the country

In addition to these, my website will contain a range of different pages advertising the charity and
what they do. The pages that will be added on my website are listed below:

When designing the website, I will be considering interactivity and accessibility. After I have chosen
my final design, I will explain why I have rejected the others. I will then create a set of webpages that
would link to my chosen design and follow the contents/assets to be able to produce an efficient
website. When creating my web pages, I will consider the appearance of my web pages and will also
make sure that the layout of my website is consistent.
When testing my website, I will be focusing on functionality and performance issues and document
them to check if there are any issues alongside my original website. I will also test my website and
create an improved version based on the feedback I was given and will then develop the website
using a specialist HTML software for the layout design and styles of the website.
