TESCO PLC is a British multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer. It Is the third largest
retailer in the world. The scope of the business is local, national and international as they have shops
from places such as next to your local school to other countries such as Poland and the Czech
Republic. In total Tesco has expanded into 13 countries outside the UK and has even entered new
markets such as inline retailing and financial services. Tesco plc would be classed as a large business
as it has over 492,000 employees (2019).

What is workforce planning ?
Workforce planning is a process of analysing the current workforce determining future workforce
needs, identifying the gap between present and future. Implementing solutions so that an
organisation can accomplish its missions, goals and strategic plan. The main motive of workforce
planning is to create high quality performing employee-management groups to ensure that the
company can maximise profit and productivity. Tesco PLC maintains a workforce planning table and
reviews it every three months so that it can meet the demand for staff continuous.

Workforce planning can be conducted through the following:
