Introduction


“Recruitment and selection is the process of identifying the need for a job,
defining the requirements of the position and the job holder, advertising the
position and choosing the most appropriate person for the job.” British gas is an
energy services provider and Apple is a multinational technology company.
Both of these companies have a recruitment process that allows them to
recruit the right people that are fit for the job roles and those that will lead the
companies to more success.
The reasons why vacancies occur
There are many different reasons to why vacancies occur many different
situations can occur and it can put the company in a position on searching for a
new employee to fill up one of their roles. This is because an organisation
would need employees to cover up all the responsibilities and tasks that they
have, because if they do not have enough staff, they would not be able to
serve all of their customers’ leadings to unsatisfied customers and a drop in
productivity levels.
One reason is sickness or because of an injury due to an accident, this would
mean that the employee would have to be away from work for some time,
which is why an organisation may have to create a temporarily vacancy to
cover their role why they are away. Another reason for a vacancy to occur
would be an employee leaving their position. Employees leave usually because
of retirement, or if they found a better job role in another company, maybe
because they prefer that company better or they believe the pay is better
compared to their current. Employees could also leave of they think that they
have not been treated well, their work not being appreciated enough or
because of a lack of motivation due to a lack of rewards system.
These are all the reasons an employee would leave their job, so a company
would have to create new vacancies for that job role as quick as possible or the
performance levels of the organisation could drop. Another reason an
organisation would have to create new vacancies is due to a maternity leave.
When a woman takes a maternity leave, the company has to start planning on
recruiting a new employee for a temporarily position to cover her role while
she is away and until she returns. Another reason why a company would create
new vacancies is because of an increased business.
For example, a business that has opened a new department, they would need
new employees for the new job roles in that department. Or if a company has
