Understand the uses and features of websites
P1: Explain the intended uses and features of two different websites

The two websites I have chosen:
1. Microsoft – https://www.microsoft.com
2. NHS - https://www.nhs.uk

1. Explain the intended uses and features of Microsoft – https://www.microsoft.com

The purpose of this website is to provide information about their selling products to
customers that visit their web page. As Microsoft has many branches in their business
valuable information for their customers are there for example, it has a section for
frequently asked questions. In addition, it has available software to download to computer
users; this website is also aimed at gamers which can purchase gaming equipment as of
course the world known console: Xbox.

It has many features for example:
• Action Buttons
There are many action buttons on this website. At the top border, these tabs direct you to
another website which is owned by Microsoft.
There are also many other action buttons which plays videos and proceeds with payments.
• Navigation bars/Menus
As Microsoft own many other services, the website has links to different sections e.g.
purchasing items which they have on the market. Also, at the top of the website there is
clear navigations to Microsoft Office, Xbox, Windows and deals on selected items these
redirect to a different website which gives a clearer image of the products.
● Hotspots
The Microsoft website has many hotspots, when opening up the webpage it is full with
images which upon clicking on them it redirects you to another part of the webpage. The big
image which is provided at the front of the webpage, directs you to the latest products
made by Microsoft.
● Email Links
Microsoft offers many ways to get in touch with customers and get up to date information.
● Registration/Logins.
As Microsoft owns many different aspects for example Microsoft office and gaming, there is
registration available to open up a Microsoft account. This is a very good feature they have
as all customers will feel welcomed and feel looked after by the company. Registration is
very good for Microsoft Office due to the fact that it backs up all types of work. It also offers
packages which are very useful. Moreover, it includes the ability to download, install and
restore modern UWP apps from the Windows Store. If you have other Microsoft devices,
like a Windows smartphone or an Xbox, then a Microsoft account would help you access
unified apps and games
● Forms

,The website does not currently have any online forms but does offer support which is
attended by a virtual assistance. However, as Microsoft id part of Microsoft office it has

and performance.

The features of the Microsoft website as explained in the previous slides, improve
presentation, usability, accessibility, and performance to users that access the web page.
For example, all the features improve the way a person uses the website. The use of the
