In this task i will be talking about A professional sports club which is manchester united and
a public limited company which is adidas.
Professional sports club:
Professional sports clubs such as Premiership Football include teams like Manchester united
are putting their own money into the facilities and are hoping to make as much money as
possible. Joel Glazer, aged 51, is Executive Co-Chairman and a Director of the Company.
He is currently a director of Red Football Limited and Co-Chairman of Manchester United.
He makes sure everything is running smoothly and has control over the club.
Public limited company:
Public limited companies are smaller than professional clubs and they rely on marketing,
donations and sponsorships to receive incomes. These companies such as Adidas which is
my example are available to the community at large and provide many things such as
clothing. For example, adidas is a public limited company and provides opportunities to
many young people. The shares made from the company are traded from the stock
exchange; they don't have lots of shareholders compared to a professional sports club. The
public pays for what the company sells but this money is reinvested sometimes on the facility
and better things to improve. For example, adidas which is a public limited company was
originally owned by Adi Dassler until he died and was passed on in the generation until the
company was bought by someone else.

Professional sports club:
Pro sports teams such as Manchester united are set up to take part professionally in national
and international cups, competitions and tournaments such as the FA Cup and many more
comps.
Inside the club, they also have a social side with several grounds with bars and meeting
rooms that can be rented out for parties and functions which are sums of income.
Merchandise outlets for fans to purchase replica uniforms worn by their favorite players and
blogs that advertise the fixtures and events of the clubs.
All of these add to income which the clubs receive with the help of match day profits and
sponsorship deals with big companies such as Nike, Adidas Etc.
Ownership:
Manchester united are owned either by corporations or by a single person (Malcolm glazer is
owned by United). The reason behind this may be simply to take advantage of the club or
simply because they love the sport, but generally it's all about benefit. Teams like these also
have fantastic offers of sponsorship because they have a global following and draw a good
range of players, having sponsors head in their direction. You can also purchase shares of
some clubs, such as Man United, since they have shares in the stock market, which also
gives the club profits.
Structure:
Inside their squad, many technical teams have a company-like structure. They will have a
board of directors led by the club manager, which will then be fed into separate sub-
committees responsible for various divisions within the club, such as coaching, sports
medicine, welfare, etc. The reason they are structured like this is to keep each division
coordinated to have individuals who know what they are doing working in their particular
sector, and also get used to the professional tone of work, as many of these individuals have
Bsc of Msc's high-level coaching qualifications within their specialty area.
