M2 Analyse how the structures of two contrasting businesses allow each to achieve its aims and
objectives.

1 Introduction

The organisational structure of any business is the most important thing. As businesses have
structures this helps them to be organised and to always be able to meet their aims and objectives.
By having an organisational structure in any business this means that every employee that they have
will be located to the correct space to work and to work with the right team.

2 Findings
A feature of Cranford’s organisational structure is that they have a headteacher under him they have
SLT members and under them they have members of different departments. This helps support their
day-to-day activities by having several types of departments and teachers, everyone in their
departments will know what to do and they will want to help the students that they teach within
their own departments. The positive impact on their stakeholders is that by helping their own
students they will be keeping their stakeholders happy as their stakeholders are the parents of the
current students. Furthermore, it contributes to the achievement of their aims and objectives
because they want to send as many students as possible to university or straight into employment.

A feature of Cranford’s organisational structure is that by having SLT members in a school it can help
the teachers to only focus on their job and if anything is wrong with the students then the SLT
members are there to help. This helps support their day-to-day activities by always being in the look
out of what something bad could happen they are always on top of the situation whether that it may
be in lessons or during break times that they can always help the teachers and ensuring that
everything is ok and that they will take care of anything and everything that is important. The
positive impact on their stakeholders is that by ensuring the students safety and always wanting to
take care of the students and ensuring that they do everything they can help the students as they
are the main stakeholders. Furthermore, it contributes to the achievement of their aims and
objectives because the student's safety is their main priority.

A feature of Tesco’s organisational structure is a hierarchical or 'tall' structures usually involve many
managers and leaders, followed by a long chain of command. Hierarchical organizational structures
typically have a small number of subordinates and managers who have a narrow scope of control.
Communication must flow through each element of the command chain within a tall structure,
making it a long communication pathway. This helps support their day-to-day activities by having
proper communication with each other Tesco can then keep having more customers coming to
them. The positive impact on their stakeholders is that by having key communication with each
other Tesco will be able to gain more customers. Furthermore, it contributes to the achievement of
their aims and objectives because Tesco customers are at the centre of everything we do. Taking the
time to understand our customers allows us to anticipate their needs and expectations.

A feature of Tesco’s organisational structure is that there are many levels of hierarchy and a long
chain of command in tall organizational structures. Vice presidents, senior managers, managers,
assistant managers, and supervisors are some examples of managerial positions in a company. This
organizational chart forms a pyramid when these positions are arranged. This helps support their
day-to-day activities by having all this positions in one place this helps Tesco having everything in
place and people following the rules and following the chain of command. The positive impact on
their stakeholders is that by having this it helps Tesco to maintain a good reputation and gaining
more customers. Furthermore, it contributes to the achievement of their aims and objectives
