Unit 17: Training in the Business Workplace
D2
In this task, I will be evaluating the planning, design and delivery of the Health & Safety training
programme at the organisational level.
When planning the Health & Safety training programme for the organisational level, I carefully
considered the time, the location and the trainer for the training, because it is extremely important
training that needs to be delivered in the right and most suitable way in order to get the best results
out of it. I decided that the location of the training will be in the building of the company. I think this
was the most suitable decision, because the health & safety training will be focused on the company
exactly, so the trainees need to get the training in the place where they will use the knowledge and
skills gained from the programme. Moreover, I think that this is the right decision, because the
trainees will learn how to make risk assessments of the building of the company and will be learning
how to make the working environment safe, which means that they need to be in the company
building so they can learn how to keep it safe and use the health & safety training effectively.
Furthermore, as the training was taking place in the company building, they didn’t have to book a
venue, which has saved a lot of money to the company and helped them to fit into the budget.
The time selected for the Health & Safety programme was from 12pm until 3pm, which I think was
the most suitable decision to make because that is the time that all the trainees will be at the
workplace, so it is easier and suitable for them to attend the Health & Safety training. Moreover, the
time scale was appropriate, as I could fit all the training activities needed for the training, so that the
employees can get the most out of the training and achieve the objectives of the training. As the
trainees of the Health & Safety training programme are from the organisational level, the training
will be at higher and more advanced level, so they need the training to be as detailed as possible so
they can learn as much as they can, which why I think that the time scale and the length of the
training programme was suitable. Moreover, I think I did well when choosing the trainer for the
Health & Safety training, because I selected external trainer who is qualified and professional. I think
this was the best decision, because at the organisational level the employees will need more
advanced and complex training programme, as they are at the top of the hierarchy in the company
and they need to be trained at the best possible standards. Therefore, the best quality training that
can be provided for the employees is by qualified external trainer, so I think that I made the right
decision when choosing trainer for the Health & Safety training programme. Hiring the trainer
costed the company £200, which I think is reasonable cost, because they are professionals and
qualified people, who will provide the best quality training for the organisational level.
Rating of decisions (1-poor, 2-ok, 3-good,4-excellent)
For the planning decisions, I would rate myself with 4-excellent, because I think that all decisions
were suitable for the Health & Safety training programme at the organisational level as they have
helped the training to be successful and to help the trainees to gain valuable skills and knowledge.
When selecting the method of delivery for the Health & Safety training programme, I looked at few
different methods, in order for the training to be effective and provide the best results. The first
method I chose is PowerPoint presentation to present the health & safety at work act and I think
that this is suitable decision as it give the trainees visual information and pictures, which is easy and
clear to understand. The other delivery method, I selected was a video which showed how to
conduct risk assessment and I think this was the right decision, because it has visually showed the
steps to the trainees and they clearly understood, which means that this method was appropriate.
As the employees at the organisational level are at the top of the hierarchy in the company, they
need to get the best training possible as they have great and important responsibilities. This is the
reason why I chose the last delivery method, which is practical exercise. I think this was the most
suitable decision, because the activities will help the trainees to understand the training programme
clearly and they will be able to use what they have learnt and their skills. Moreover, the delivery
methods used in the training programme fitted into the budget as they didn’t require any new
