Unit 17: Planning and managing a training programme
D1
In this task, I will be assessing the importance for Savers Plus company to provide the appropriate
training for their employees at different levels.
Organisational
It is essential for Savers Plus company to provide appropriate training for the employees at the
organisational level, because this is the highest level at the company and the job roles they have is
more complex that the other levels, which means that more skills and knowledge are required to
fulfil the job role successfully. For example, it is very important to train the staff at this level, in order
to comply with the company ethos, which will ensure that all the employees at the organisational
level are happy and committed to the quality of the work. The organisational level should give the
information about the ethos (the aims and objectives and what the company believes in), to the rest
of the company and the other levels, as the organisational level is at the top of the hierarchy and
they need to be showing the other levels what to follow and what to comply with, within the
organisation, as their example is passed down the other levels in the company. Training the staff at
the organisational level is vital for the company as it will combine the skills and attributes of their
staff with the commitment to provide high quality and professional service. Furthermore, it is
essential to train staff at the organisational level in order for the Savers Plus company to keep the
high standards. Maintaining the high standards will be beneficial for their reputation and brand
image and will allow the company to stay ahead the competitor and remain competitive within
marketplace. Also, providing the right training for the organisational level, will be beneficial for the
standards of the company as they will keep up with their performance and quality, which will help
the department to operate in more efficient way. Furthermore, it is very important for Savers Plus to
provide appropriate training for the organisational level, as the customers are expecting to
experience the same standards in all the stores and branches of the company. When the company is
meeting the expectation of the customers, then they are immediately improving their reputation
and increasing the customer satisfaction. There are two aims of training in the organisational level of
Savers Plus and other companies – strategic and operational. The strategic are the long term goals
and are objectives for the future growth and development of the company, so they are used by the
company to decide what training methods would be appropriate for achieving these objectives. For
example, increasing turnover, becoming market leader etc. There are also the operational
objectives, which are more practical and they would easier for Savers Plus. For example, providing
training because of new technology, to increase productivity, to improve health & safety etc. As the
organisational level is at the top of the hierarchy in the organisation, they have great impact on the
rest of the levels in Savers Plus, so training them is essential as they are the people who are going to
meetings and communicating with the stakeholders of the company in order for the business to be
successful and growing, so their training needs to be at higher and deeper level as they have huge
impact on the company. Overall, providing appropriate training for the organisational level is an
essential as it will have positive impact on the store, as the productivity and the performance of the
department will be improved.
Rating of importance: (1-essential, 2-very important, 3-important, 4-slightly important)
The rating of importance of training for the organisational level I would give is 1, which is essential
because the job roles in this level are more difficult and the training needs to be at high standards in
order fit the employees to fulfil their job role.
However, if Savers Plus company doesn’t identify the training needs and doesn’t provide suitable
training for the organisational level, there would be very negative impact on the whole company. For
example, If the organisational level doesn’t receive appropriate training, they will be negative impact
on the whole company as the organisational level are the top people in the organisation and they
are impacting the whole business. The satisfaction and the morale of the employees will go down,
affecting the performance of the whole company. Moreover, when the organisational level is not
performing well their duties, they will be serious consequences for the whole company as they have
