This essay explores the demandingness objection to Utilitarianism. Ultimately it determines that the demandingness objection is philosophically sound through a well-reasoned and structured response that considers both cognitive/time demand as well as the impartiality requirement. The essay strictly follows the school of PPLS' recommended philosophy essay structure and has been edited to reflect feedback received from both a writing centre tutor and a Morality and Value tutor.
In-depth notes taken on every Morality and Value lecture of the fall semester 2o23. Notes cover weeks 1-9 and follow lecture slides with lighthearted clarifications included in definitions. Notes cover all topics including concepts like hedonism, utilitarianism, morality and markets, normative ethics etc. Philosophers covered include Kant, Aristotle, Camus, Sandel, WD Ross and more.
