STAGING AN EVENT
FIFA World Cup 2018
Every four years, the FIFA World Cup is held in a different location, and it features 32
national football teams competing in various stages to determine who is the best national
team and who will win the world cup trophy. The 2018 World Cup was hosted by Russia and
ran from June 14 to July 15, 2018, with the final staged at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow,
Russia's capital city, where 78,011 people watched live and an estimated 3.5 billion watched
on TV around the world.
The event was a huge success, attracting the most views of any single sport event, surpassing
the 2014 World Cup in Brazil by 2.5 billion people. The event cost Russia 11 billion pounds
to stage, yet it has had a hugely positive influence on the country. It has had a hugely good
impact on the country, as it has strengthened international ties and changed many people's
perceptions of the country as a result of the country's history with the USSR and the
numerous incidents and conflicts it has been involved in. Also, many questions about security
in the country were raised, as thousands of fans from all over the world would be traveling
with different beliefs, skin colours, and sexualities, and many questions about how Russian
society dealt with these issues, such as gay sexuality being discriminated against. The
Russian authorities, on the other hand, were able to maintain control and ensure that no big
crisis occurred that could have resulted in any distribution.
, Furthermore, they were capable of creating more revenue since many fans would travel to
watch games and would frequently check out the local tourist sites and spend money on other
things such as sampling Russian food, resulting in increased revenue. FIFA was able to
generate a lot of money with its many advertisement partners from all over the world, such as
Coca-Cola, Adidas, and Hyundai, as well as other brands from all over the world who spent a
lot of money to get their products marketed to 3.5 billion people around the world.
Also, the Russian government states that each match of this world cup has sold out, which
was not possible in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and many analysts did not believe Russia
would be able to do so owing to security concerns. They made a lot of money because tickets
were incredibly expensive to obtain. They also made money from TV licensing because every
country in the world wanted to watch it, and each country could only have one or two
broadcasters sharing matches. Furthermore, both the BBC and ITV were able to break their
own audience records as the majority of the UK watched England advance to the World Cup
semi-finals for the first time in ages.
Khabib vs McGregor
Ultimate Fighting Championship, a mixed martial arts organization based in the United
States, held its biggest event yet on October 6, 2018, dubbed UFC 229. The fight included the
return of Connor McGregor, one of the world's most famous athletes, who had been away
from combat sports for a long time. He would face Khabib, the current UFC lightweight
champion who had gone undefeated in 22 fights.
The fight was a huge success, with 3.6 million pay-per-view viewers globally, the most ever
for a mixed martial arts event. Because of the company's excellent promotion, it was able to
get thus many pay per views. They scheduled many news conferences for both fighters to
promote the battle. Both fighters insulted one other during the press conference, causing them
to become enraged and push each other, forcing them to either shove each other or make
terrible remarks regarding religion, family, and personal life. The match has a lengthy
backstory, as both fighters' coach teams got into a brawl months before the fight was ever
announced, resulting in Connor McGregor throwing a chair at a bus, which Khabib was in.
As Connor was sentenced to prison, this became more widely known. This had a huge
influence since more and more people became invested in the battle because they could see a
genuine rivalry between the two competitors, and the sport became extremely hyped.
Many die-hard fans were interested in the fight because it featured legend Connor, who was
the first double-weight champion and was known as the best fighter of all time. However,
after taking a long pause from the sport, Khabib improved and won the lightweight belt,
never losing a round, let alone a match. He holds the record for having the most ardent
supporters who wanted to see how Connor would break him down.
These considerations, as well as the fact that it was held at the MG Grand Las Vegas, one of
the most well-known venues in the world, meant that it was held at the right time for
individuals in the United States, since the time zones were accessible to Americans, allowing
more people to watch the event. It also included another major fight, Tony Ferguson vs.
Anthony Pettis, which drew fighters from their respective fan bases to witness the event.
