Question 1
The developmental context was selected because my son, who is in Gr R also had learning difficulties
and had to undergo psychological assessments to determine if he was ready to go to grade one. I have
spoken telephonically with his class teacher as well as the educational psychologist at the school. All
COVID 19 protocols were followed and one on one sessions were held between the three parties
involved.

In developmental assessment, children’s performances are compared to those of the same age group. In
a school environment, it includes the involvement of teachers, parents, and educational psychologists.
Parents might be asked to complete a questionnaire to get information on the basic development stages
of the child, it also includes the assessment of speech, motor skills, behaviour, movement, and social

Children from grade R, who is 6 years of age were part of the developmental assessments. Grade R’s
were assessed to see if they are ready to go to grade one and results were compared to those of children
of 7 years of age.

The test material was stored on a computer in the office of the educational psychologist on the school
premises. The computer was password protected and the office was locked at all times. The educational
psychologist was the only person with the password and key to the office.
