Situationships: embracing the grey erea
A situationship is an informal arrangement typically between two people that has
components of both emotional and physical connection yet operates outside the
conventional idea of being in an exclusive, committed relationship.
It is well known among the Gen Z’ers, while they don’t want to share their feelings with
anyone else. It became more difficult to date because of the pandemic. Overall the Gen Z’ers
think very different about a relationship and what a more like situationship.
Pardon my French
Multilinguals and bilinguals often change languages mid-sentence. And what’s so weird about
this is that it most happens when you talk in your main language and suddenly use words and
sentences from your second or even third language. Preventing a person from doing this is
very difficult but you can train to not do switch-ups. You try to suppress the second language
while talking in your first. Another tip is to surround yourself in an environment of the foreign
language. But it can still happen.
When hunger meets anger
Hunger + anger = hangry/hanger
Hunger can be conceptualised as an emotion. Empty-stomached people will be very irritated
when something doesn’t work properly and will get frustrated to the people around then.
While the fully-stomached ones handled the frustrating part way better. When someone is
hungry a shift in the hormones, brain processes and the peripheral nervous system, that are
comparable to what we see in anger, fear and sadness. There needs to be homeostasis in the
body. If there’s not, a signal will go to the brain that says: ‘be emotional, we need to go back
to homeostasis.’
Glucose is also necessary for the brain. When there’s not enough glucose your brain won’t
function like it’s used to. So when you’re hungry, you’re hungry on brain-level.
The best way to get rid of the hunger is, of course, eating, but something with high glucose.
It’s also best to eat regularly, like following a scheme.
Reclaiming the dark
Dark-sky areas are places with a little to no light-pollution. In West-Penwith you got one of
these so called ‘Dark Sky Park’. The pollution is caused by light aimed upwards. So by aiming it
down it’ll change. This shown artificial light is also bad to us humans. It messes with our
biological clock. 23:00 will feel like 22:00, your head isn’t sleepy yet so you stay up ‘till 24:00
but wake up the same time as usual. It’s not only bad for humans but also for animals like
birds. It’s a beautiful thing to see the cosmos and everyone should be able to see it.
