- Ownership and the usage of smartphones have increased in the last few years.
More than half of the world's population is in possession of a smartphone.
- Among the growing smartphone users there are also many healthcare
professionals that believe in the technology of a smartphone to improve
healthcare in certain sectors.
- In 2006 64% of all physicians in the US used a smartphone professionally. This
number has increased since 2001, where it only was 30%.
- With A. I. based methods it is possible to identify ‘vocal markers’. Vocal
markers are medical signs that are based on differences in your healthy, normal
voice and they are contributing to identifying serious health risks and diseases.
- Screening for serious diseases and discovering it in an early stage prevents
having treatment in a later more severe stage of the disease.

Analysis
Nobody would leave their phone at home these days. The daily use of smartphones
has significantly increased. This innovation is not only highly adopted by regular
people, but also by medical professionals. It is only expected that smartphone
healthcare would be implied in the near future, since it is used so abundantly.
Nowadays in the medical field, the smartphone is used with simple healthcare such as
blood pressure meters, blood sugar meters and pulse oximeters. By using an easy,
user-friendly application for this, the users take an active role in their own health.

A fairly new technology that is applied to smartphones in healthcare, is A.I..
Artificial intelligence, A.I., is a computer based science that has the capability to
mimic actions that usually requires human intelligence. Within healthcare, A. I. has
much potential. The application starts with a large amount of data. With self-learning
techniques the A. I. will start recognizing patterns and algorithms.The information
collected via this way of A. I. learning will provide for a significant solution for
medical problems.

This A. I. technique is also known for its remembering capabilities. This is useful for
applying the technology in the diagnostics department of healthcare. When
‘remembering’ the healthy state of you, it can easily recognize when this state is off.
