The Banbury Castle, a family-owned company set in the United Kingdom, is
the subject of this report’s analysis. This research will help identify and clarify the key
concerns since Michael Graham wants to overhaul the company’s personnel
management system. Firstly, the HR Cycle and Employee Journey Map were
analyzed and applied to the identified problems at Banbury Castle. The manager’s
leadership style and the employee’s motivation are the two key problems present in
the organization. Secondly, the analysis of the employee’s motivation will be carried
out. Herzberg’s theory of motivation is applied to this subject. It will shed light on the
reasons that demotivate people and introduce the idea of motivation. Other theories
include Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs and Alderfer’s ERG theory which will be
clarified upon to understand employee motivation better. Furthermore, the leadership
problems at Banbury Castle were analyzed. The leadership styles framework
developed by Lewin and McKinsey’s centered Leadership model was used to
analyze the current leadership style. Lewin’s theory identifies three different types of
leadership. This will demonstrate the optimal leadership style for the organization
and how to interact with the workforce.
Additionally, this report includes some recommendations on how to improve the
company based on the issues that were identified. The following recommendations
