4 campaigns you have chosen are:
1. Clare’s Law
2. Black Lives Matter
3. No Knives, Better Lives
4. Stephan Lawrence
5. Exposing the Collar ( my campaign )

Compare - means similarities and differences. You need to compare the 4 campaigns under
each heading.

How did it come about?

Clare’s law was started due to 36 year old Clare Woods being raped, strangled and burned
by her previously convicted (domestic abuse) boyfriend in 2009. The campaign was started
by her father. The BBC covered her story.
Black Lives Matter after a high profile killing of multiple black people across America,
including an infamous po lice killing of George Floyd in 2020. This is similar to Clare’s Law
due them both starting on the basis of a tragedy.
No Knives, Better Lives began as a response to high knife crime in Scotland to lower the
knife crime rate and educate young people on the consequences of carrying a knife. This is
different from the other two because NKBL was not in response to a singular killing that
dominated the news like the killing of Clare Woods and George Floyd did.
Stephen Lawrence's killing was a racially-motivated killing by a group of white men on an
innocent black man. The effect on this was different from the other campaigns as it
implemented a change in the police force which is different from the other campaigns which
raise awareness, but it is similar to Black Lives Matter as it focuses on the racial injustice
and hate crime black people face.

Driving force

The driving force for Clare’s Law was her father, especially her father, similarly to Stephan
Larence whose family, his mother, advocated for change. My campaign is similar as it is run
and driven by a singular person, my campaign being driven by me.
This is different from the other two campaigns because the driving force were people who
were personally related and therefore affected by the act. The driving force for No Knives,
Better Lives was the Scottish Government to reduce national knife crime in Scotland, which
is different from Black Lives Matter, who were driven from the public and specifically young
black people in the UK and America to oppose the police ( part of government ) to address
the institutionalised racism.

Aim and purpose

The purpose of Clare’s Law was to let partners know life-saving information on their
partner’s history, for example, history of domestic violence or violent acts in order to protect
themselves. This is a different aim from Stephan Lawrence because the aim of the campaign
was to lessen racism in the police. These purposes of the campaigns are also different as
