Case description:
X, a 48-year-old woman, presents with complaints of neck pain, and tingling feeling in her fingers. Her sedentary
office job, where she sits behind a desk using a laptop for long hours from 9 am to 5 pm, contributes to her
complaints. The recent promotion she received at work has led to an increased workload, causing her to experience
more mental problems. Additionally, her desk-bound job makes it challenging to maintain a healthy work-life
balance, limiting her engagement in personal activities and quality time with family and friends. X physical activity
level does not meet the requirements according to the KNGF Dutch Physical Activity Guideline, and she smokes one
pack of cigarettes per day. The combination of prolonged sitting, poor posture, and lack of physical activity has led to
pain complaints for. Her discomfort may be worsened by an uncomfortable chair or poorly positioned computer
equipment. The sedentary lifestyle and smoking habit also contribute to her musculoskeletal complaints and
resulted in weight gain, muscle stiffness, and decreased energy levels. Furthermore, prolonged screen time causes
eye strain and headaches.
Research & performance test
In order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of x' complaints and take into account her overall perspective,
several assessments were conducted. Her lifestyle was examined through the BRAVO quick scan to gain
understanding. An assessment called Vita-16 was completed to measure x well-being in the previous month.
Furthermore, the Work Ability Index (WAI) was utilized to evaluate her work capacity. To assess endurance, the
Astrand test was conducted. Lastly, the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) was employed to evaluate work
posture and identify the risk of overload. The scores from all the assessments are processed and included in the RPS
form and are included in the appendixes.
