In this assignment, I am going to explain the advantages of and disadvantages of using
professional agencies in ensuring promotional success
The advantages of using an advertising agency are:
Expertise - By hiring an advertising agency, you will be using their experience and their
specialised knowledge which will help the business to draw and attract customers. A small
business is more likely to use an advertising agency because they may not have their own
marketing department.
Time - Using an advertising agency will save the business time because the advertising
agency will be spending time creating and developing the advert. By hiring an advertising
agency, it will allow more time to run the business and deal with more important things.
Money - By hiring an advertising agency, it will save money for the business because instead
of paying for the resources to create and develop the advert, the advertising agency would
have taken care of it.
Brand - By using the adverting agency it will develop the businesses brand by developing
logos and advertising the business which will develop brand awareness. The advertising
agency also provides effective market research for your business which will help to attract
customers and therefore increase sales. The agency also designs ads for individual media
which is specifically designed for different aspects of the market which will be more
effective.


The disadvantages of using an advertising agency are:
Expensive - Hiring an advertising agency can be very expensive which many businesses may
not be able to afford. When a business hires an advertising agency, they use the expertise of
designers, directors and copywriters; this means that each of the people that work for the
advertising agency must be paid from the commission that the business pays. Usually it is
only large companies that use the advertising agency because they can afford the costs
whereas smaller businesses cannot afford the prices for the advertising agency.
Unfamiliarity - The advertising agency may not know anything about your business, your
products or the industry. So, this means that they will not have any knowledge of your
business and they may not advertise your company correctly from the point of view that is
suitable. This means that there is no guarantee that they will develop and draw more
customers into the business and if the advertising is done poorly then the business will lose
money and customers. Consequently, the business will lose a lot of money on an advert that
doesn’t promote their business correctly so it would be a waste of time and money.
