In the beginning, it is about Laurie Saunders sitting in a publishing office chewing her pen. She left the office
and went to stand in front of a classroom where her friend Amy is sitting. She stood in front of the classroom
window and made funny faces, which her friend Amy laughed. Then Laurie and Amy went together to history
class. The teacher, Mr. Ross handed out test and tried to turn on a film projector. But he couldn’t manage to
turn it on then a student helped him, David Collins.
CHAPTER 2:
In history class, they watched a documentary about the Nazis concentration camps in World War Two. During
the documentary the teacher explained what they saw, many students were shocked, there were many
questions. After class, Laurie had gone to the teacher to say that what happening was not good and that people
could fight back. Robert Billings slept through the lesson and tried to sneak out the classroom. The teacher
stopped him and asked a few of questions. And he told him to do his best to graduate and that he didn’t have
to become like his brother.
CHAPTER 3:
Laurie and David are sitting in the cafeteria eating and talking. They talk about Robert Billings being apart. And
they talk about the history movie, David told Laurie to forget about it and that the world learned from it. Amy
and Brian joined them. They started talking about calculus and about Robert Billings. Amy and Laurie went to
the publishing office. Amy was smoking and she had locked the door.
CHAPTER 4:
The questions during history class caused Mr. Ross to doubt himself. He wished he could give his
students the exact answer to their questions. He went to a library to get books. He read the books at
home and discovered that he would not find the answer in the books. His wife Christy Ross came home
from tennis and then she went out to dinner with a friend.
CHAPTER 5:
Mr. Ross had written on the board strength through discipline. He explained that discipline is power, and
you need it. He did a game where you had to walk and when Benn told to sit down, you had to sit on
your seat quickly. And the next game was Mr. Ross asking history questions and you had to stand next to
your chair and say Mr. Ross. When he was home, he was thinking about when the school bell rang that
no one left the class, everyone stayed.
