Task 1 - Long answer:Write a paragraph (or series of paragraphs) in support of this principle. Explain why these five
factors are essential to the process of evolution. Be sure to discuss each of the five at least once
throughout your paper. You can start by defining each condition and you can then continue to
describe the relationship between them.
Evolution is very important because it creates diversity among animals, it creates new
animals which have genes of two animals that interacted together, some animals will have
characteristics that other animals do not have. If the five factors mentioned in the question do
take place, animals will stay the same and evolution will not occur. In the next few paragraphs, I
will explain each of the factors and explain the positives and negatives each one brings.
Mutation in the population of animals means the structure of a gene or chromosome is
changed by taking DNA and adding or removing stuff from it, this can take place through natural
selection or attraction. Doing this will create different versions of the same animals which will
help in increasing population and adding diversity to it which is an important factor in evolution.
If this principle is taken seriously, it will be impossible for people to see diversity of animals and
increase the population of animals too which will lead to animals being the same all the time and
not evolving.
No gene flow between populations means that genes that are in one species of animals
cannot be passed down to another, doing this will create new animals that have genes of both
animals that interacted and will also create animals that have the looks of two animals instead of
one which makes them unique from everyone else and increase the diversity of animals and the
population too. If this principle is taken seriously, all animals of a group will be the same and
won’t evolve.
Genetic drift in the population is some animals passing down certain characteristics or
diseases they have to another animal and this process may not get repeated again or is very rare
to happen. Genetic drift affects population in a negative way such as animals disappearing due to
a passed down disease or positive way such as a few animals looking or being very unique
compared to everyone else. This principle is very beneficial because some animals could be
unique and create diversity in the animal population or harmful if a very serious disease is passed
on that causes animals to disappear. If this principle is taken seriously, all animals will be the
same and no evolution will occur.
Animals going to other animals that they find attractive and reproduce with them is called
natural selection, this takes place by one animal liking a certain feature another one has. This
creates diversity among a group of animals, this also increases the population of animals &
evolves animals in new ways also known as speciation. If this principle is taken seriously, all
animals will be the exact same and not create evolution.
All mating that takes place through natural selection or attraction between animals is
random but it is not due to some animal not being attracted to another animal. Animals mating
with other animals within their own species due to attraction is a great way to have different
characteristics exist in some animals even though they are one species, this increases diversity
and makes new versions of animals. If this principle is taken seriously, it will have the same
effect that other evolution methods do and do not create a big change in anything.
