Teacher Language
This part of the assignment is set to enable us to assess your language grading and concept checking. You should
show a) some of the language you would use in the presentation, and b) to give one instruction.
You must use direct speech, e.g. T: So everyone, look at this picture, please. What can you see?
S1: Man and woman
T: A man and a woman, yes, can anyone say a bit more?
S2: They're riding their bikes.
T: Excellent. Good. What are their names do you think?
S3: Donald and Melania.
T: Great idea! – So I'm putting that on the board (Teacher writes on the board 'Donald and Melania are riding their
bikes.')
You might need to put in some predicted student responses, as in the example above.
Check the examples in Unit 7 to make sure you understand what is required.
N.B. If you do not use direct speech, you will be required to resubmit the whole assignment.
This document should not be more than 3 pages long, including this page; approx 700-1000 words in total.
a) Presentation
You do not need show the entire presentation, but show us some of the language you would use to elicit the target
language from the context you have chosen, elicit the form and concept check.
Show the actual words you would use for:
i) eliciting the target language from the context
T: okay class, if you look on the board I have two sentences, and what I need you to do is try and
link up the sentences. Has anyone here learnt know how to do this before?
S: No sir
T: How do you think this sentence would be linked up? Please write your answer down on your
paper and then we will go through your answers together.
T: Alright class, time is up. Let’s have a look at your answers! Who would like to have a try at
this?
S: Y think I might have an idea. If we stop polluting the planet we will be healthier
T: well done, that is a very good guess! I’ve written the sentence on the board; now class do you
think there is any punctuation mark missing in this sentence?
S: Is it a comma?
T: Yes, a comma is missing. We will use a comma to link these two sentences together. If we
look at this sentence, we can see there is an IF and a Result. Who can guess which is which?
S: Is the “If we stop polluting the planet?” an IF clause?
T: yes, that is correct. That mean that “we will be healthier” is the result.
T: is everyone clear on this?
S: yes sir.
T: Great work class! Now, look at the 3 examples I have given you here, and try and complete
the sentences for me on your paper and we will go through them together in 1 minute.
