About a boy is a book about the life of two teenage boys, Marcus and Will. Marcus
moved to London with his mother because his father and his mother divorced and
need to live seperate. His father lives in Cambridge now. Marcus has to go to
another school in London because of the divorce. He really does not like to go to
another school where he doesn’t have any friends. The kids on his new school think
he’s weird, because of his clothes, his music taste etc. Marcus mother Fiona is
depressed.
One day Fiona took Marcus to SPAT. SPAT is an organization for single parents.
Fiona is a member of SPAT with her friend Susan. At the SPAT meeting, Marcus
meets a man named Will. Will is a member of SPAT because he thinks that it is an
easy way to meet woman and take her on a date maybe. Will lied about having a
child. After a while Marcus discovered that Will did not have a kid. Marcus hangs
around Wills apartment a lot. In the beginning Will thinks it’s annoying, but when
Marcus Mother Fiona tried to commit suicide, Marcus draw will into his life. At first
Will didn’t want to get involved in the life of Marcus and Fiona, because then he gets
responsible for things and he is not Marcus his father. Later he does get involved in
their lives and he gets used to it, he actually likes being around them. In the
meantime Marcus wants to show Will how to act like an adult, because Marcus finds
the behaviour of Will as if he’s a little boy. On the other hand is Will helping Marcus
how to act like an normal child, they go to the hairdresser and Marcus gets new
sneakers from Will.
At school marcus gets to know a girl, Ellie. Ellie likes Kurt Cobain. Marcus and Ellie
become friends, and start hanging out together. Fiona finds out that will lied to her,
and thinks that it’s wrong that Marcus spends so much time with Will.she forbid
Marcus to spend more time with Will. But Marcus ignored his mother, and still
spends time with Will. Marcus and Will grow closer and closer. Fiona's worries have
decreased, making her feel less depressed. At the end of the book, Marcus and Ellie
took the train to visit the father of Marcus, named Clive. The day they went to visit
Clive, ellie’s idol Kurt Cobain died and she was a little depressed and sad about that.
Eventually they end uit at a police station, because Ellie did something bad. Marcus
, doesn’t want to go to his father, he wants to stay with Ellie. They get in a argument
about that. In the End, when he is home again, Will comes to visit him and they both
know that everything is going to be alright.

depressed by all the worries after the divorce. Fiona lives as a Hippie. after the
divorce Fiona moved to London with Marcus to start a new live. In london she joint
the SPAT club, a club for single parents.
Will: Will is a thirty-six year old men, but behaves like a little boy. he is a hip and rich
guy because of his father. He joins the SPAT club, without even having a child. He
just wants to meet single women. Will is a bit egoistic, and lies a lot.
4. I think Marcus is a very smart and attractive boy, because he overthinks the things
he does. Marcus also has to go through all the worse things with the divorce of his
parents and the suicide attempt by his mother. His new friend Will helped him to get
through it, and get over all. I find it very special to have a friend like Will. A friend who
will support you no matter what happens in your life.
