Discussion
Ethical codes are considered to be inherently ambiguous however, they are also
deemed to be an inevitable part of a counsellor’s profession. Ethical codes possess a range of
dilemmas that are confronted by counselors in many of the decisions they have to make in the
best interest of a client. In the decision-making process, counselors draw upon internalized
morals and values in combination with rules and regulations of formal codes that all helping
professionals should adhere to. In the decision-making process, reflection is an integral tool
for counsellors who are faced with the reality of a unique difficulty. Reflection helps in
weighing risks and in turn, help counsellors make the best decision possible when they
consult with their supervisor.
A problem or the circumstance would be required, which would help an individual or
any organization to choose between the alternatives which would be evaluated and assessed.
Such would be considered to be ethical or wrong. While trying to consider the difficulties and
therefore, the ethical issues would be of concern (Jenkins, 2017). The ethical issues in
counseling practice include practices such as dual relationships along with confidentiality,
informed consent, development and use of disclosure statements, client rights, and along with
such multicultural counseling and issues relating to supervision and along with professional
competence and the ethical decision making and more. The ethical issues in counseling

practice would be made in small group sessions. A counselor is considered to be an
individual who would have the necessary training and skill to complete the counseling
practice for the profession relating to counseling. The relationship between the counselor and
the client would be of a formal, contracted relationship which would be agreed by both the
parties and both those parties have had an agreement to work together which would be for the
benefits of the client (Mill, 2016).
The first ethical system would be for normative ethics, which would be for
utilitarianism as such has been equated with the concept that relates to the greatest good for
the greatest number. This idea is considered to be one of the ethical decisions that are based
on the implications of the action, which is why such is also known as consequentialism
(Slote, 2020). Utilitarian ethics are considered to present certain questions regarding conflicts
that would be used in the segment of the society and such would be considered to be essential
as it would weigh on the goodness of the result or the outcome (de Lazari-Radek, et al.,
2017). The utilitarianism ethical theory is considered to be the theory that would advocate the
actions that have promoted happiness or pleasure to the majority of the individuals as it
rejects any kind of unhappiness of any actions or any harm (Klein, 2017). The utilitarian
theory would be considered to be directed into making social as well as economical as well as
political decisions that would be aiming for the betterment of the society at large (Mill,
2016).
In the moral philosophy, it can be understood that the deontological ethics is
considered to be the type of normative ethical theory that would be depending on the morality
regarding the actions of the individuals and whether such action is considered to be right or
wrong under the several series of rules rather than such being based on the consequences
regarding the activities. The primary difficulty regarding this particular form of ethical theory
is that the different or the separate societies would be considered to be having their moral
