Engineering graphics and design (EGD) focuses on providing learners with specific
knowledge and different drawing techniques and skills to interpret and produce
drawings in the contexts of mechanical technology and electrical technology. EGD
covers general principles of technical drawing, free-hand drawing, orthographic
projections, geometrical constructions, isometric drawing, perspective drawing, and
computer-aided drawing (CAD). The specific aim of EGD is to teach graphical
drawings as the primary means of communication in the technological world, basic
context and concepts in mechanical, civil, and electrical technology, various
instruments and free-hand drawing techniques and skills, and solving technological
problems through graphical drawings.
Therefore, civil technology focuses on the practical application of principles and
concepts in the built environment and construction, while engineering graphics and
design focus on providing learners with drawing techniques and skills to interpret and
produce drawings in the contexts of mechanical and electrical technology.
2.
In my context, the concepts of "technology" and "technology education" play a crucial
role in shaping the society and preparing individuals for the demands of the modern
world. Technology is the driving force behind innovation, progress, and economic
development. It encompasses the tools, techniques, and knowledge used to develop
products and solve problems, ultimately improving the quality of life. From simple tools
and machines to complex systems and digital advancements, technology has become
an integral part of our daily lives.
