we do not know who the he is.

Looking like an ordinary – looking like someone ordinary and not
someone who is great, a commoner.
Grandfather – loving caring, will fight for you.
Sweet – not a word you would use to describe a political figure.
We expected strength and power, but he is plain and unassuming.
3. The colon shows that further explanation is about to follow.
The structure – suggests that the speaker is about to tell us a story.
4. As is Mandela and other polictical figures were released from prison at
the time, the children looked up to them and found them relatable
and were affectionate to them.
Knew – suggests close relationship and affection.
5. Wise – knowledgable, with age you get more wise.
Saintly – purity, can be related to forgiveness.
6. Relatable, like people who live in your area. Simple ordinary people.
7-8. They always dressed in a very respectable manner.
8-9. They are friendly and polite. They are people who you could speak to
(unlike politicians).

This can also represent Mandela’s time in prison.

11. Bogeyman – As if it was a haunting image that was use to indicate
fear.
People wanted Mandela to be fearful to children.
11-12. There were censorship laws, his face was forbidden and any article
about him was forbidden in the newspaper.
If you wanted to read about Mandela than you would have to go to
other countries and read about it.
13-14. Charismatic –he is approachable, someone who you can speak and
relate to.
Tongue in blood and flame – the media made him seem as if he was a
terrorist, but he is not. He is a nice person who is very approachable.

15. This great moment. Everyone waited for this moment, yet the world
did not end. Suggesting it was like an ordinary day.
16. BUT there were other things that happened. There were other things
that signified that moment.
The mountain – table mountain.

17. There was a fire on table mountain. Fire represents cleansing and
purification.
