Jonathan is a 12 year old boy who attends St Anglia College; a private school situated in an affluent suburb. Jonathan is a Grade 6 learner who enjoys engaging in extra-mural activities, such as; sport and drama club. His mediocre academic results thus far, have not indicated any extraordinary academic talent. During class, he is reserved and does not engage in conversation as prolifically as his peers and prefers to complete tasks on his own rather than in groups. He is the older of two siblings, having a younger brother (Jacob) who is 8 years old. His mother works part-time at a local health shop, selling vegetables, health drinks and supplement products. His father was a successful estate agent but was laid-off one year ago during the economic recession; where the bank repossessed the house. He now works as a ‘sight-manager’ for a friend who owns a small carpentry business. Jonathan frequently misses school days which caught the attention of his subject teachers, who then approached the Head of Academics. After a brief internal investigation, management members discovered the traumatic home-life situation. They discovered that the family was living in a stable within a nearby farm, surrounded by their only possessions from their former home. (For ED4-PSY1 Cornerstone Institute & PDP4801 UNISA)
