AQA some physics Exam Test With 100% Correct Answers Resultant force - ANSWER All the forces acting together on an object Zero resultant force - ANSWER When all the forces are balanced When zero resultant force occurs - ANSWER Stationary objects remain stationary and a moving object remains at the same speed in the same direction. Non zero resultant force - ANSWER A stationary object moves in the direction of the resultant force. A moving object speeds up, slows down or changes direction depending on the direction of the resultant force. Size of the force - ANSWER An object will accelerate in the direction of the resultant force. The bigger the force the greater the acceleration. The mass - ANSWER An object with a larger mass will accelerate less then a smaller mass with the same force. Double the mass halves the acceleration. Force, mass and acceleration equation - ANSWER a= f÷ m What do these stand for in the equation: f, m, a - ANSWER f= resultant force (N) m= mass of object (Kg) a= acceleration of object (m/s/s) Distance time graph - ANSWER Flat line means stationary. Velocity time graph - ANSWER Flat line means constant velocity. Acceleration equation - ANSWER a=(v-u)÷t What do these stand for in the equation: a, v, u, t - ANSWER a= acceleration of object (m/s/s) v= final velocity (m/s) u= initial velocity (m/s) t= time taken (s) Distance time graph, calculating gradients - ANSWER speed = distance ----------- time Velocity time graph, calculating gradients - ANSWER Draw a line where the line goes flat down and divide velocity by time. Velocity time graph, area under the line = - ANSWER The distance travelled. Stopping distance= - ANSWER Thinking distance+ braking distance Thinking distance= - ANSWER The distance travelled in the time it takes to react to a stimulus. Things that affect thinking distance - ANSWER Tiredness, distractions, alcohol or drugs Braking distance= - ANSWER The distance travelled after having applied the breaks. Things that affect braking distance - ANSWER Brakes/ tyres in bad condition. Weather/ friction on the road
