Name the three verbs used in doing mathematics with examples. (3)
1. Listening: Learners need to listen to the teacher when different
mathematical problems, methods and work is being explained in order to
comprehend what is happening in the lesson.
2. Memorising: it is important for learners to know the different tipes of
formulas,rules and procedures of mathematics by heart to effectively put the
theoretical knowledge that they have obtained into practical work when
given different tipes of mathematical problems.
3. Repeating: revision is a very important part of learning. Revising /repeating
key concepts can be beneficial for learners as they get the chance to go
over the work again and possibly develop a better understanding of the
work.
Question 2
Determine if rounding off 34,56 to the nearest one decimal place is a nonroutine or a
routine question. Work out the answer. (3)
Rounding off 34,56 to the nearest one decimal place is a routine question as a clear rule
can be followed.
34,56 → the last digit is more than five, thus 1 is added to the second last digit.
Answer: 34,6
