A business’ concept is largely dependent on a few major factors, namely the
type of business model (structure) it will follow and small business’ usually fall
into either the sole propriety or partnership structures. A Sole Propriety is a
business owned by a single individual who takes full responsibility for fund,
operation and managing roles where as a partnership relies on a few or more
co-owners who assume a relatively equal amount of all the responsibilities.
Another incredibly important factor for a start up business to take into account
is the market in which they wish to operate. By researching competitors,
trends and common practices a business has the potential to differentiate in
their market and ultimately position themselves as a leading company that is
unique, a very desirable attribute for a successful business.
Vision Statement:
Soundscape Acoustics strives to provide the best acoustic treatment solutions
available, for both commercial (theatres, studios… etc.) and private facilities
(home theatres, home studios). With our world-class products, skills and team
of professionals, we aim to create a consistent and reliable name for
ourselves as true leaders in the South African market. Our larger (long-term)
and main vision is to enlighten as many people as possible to the fact that
acoustic treatment should be a more important, if not the most important,
consideration when building ANY room in which sound is even present, not
only those dedicated to sound itself.
Business Idea:
An acoustic treatment company is not a new idea, and even in a relatively
smaller market, there are plenty of companies like this in South Africa. The
problem is that most of these companies cater for already sound orientated
workplaces and for people who have enough of an understanding of sound’s
physical attributes and behavior to actually go looking for treatment.
At Soundscape Acoustics we believe everyone should have the option and
even the right to experience all sound in their lives and workplaces in a
healthier way, a way that’s more enjoyable and beneficial to both them and
their employers and/or loved ones.
Soundscape will be launched as a Partnership, a structure of business that
we feel best would suite the business, taking the more hands make for lighter
work approach, as well as having the power of more resources and
knowledge to pool together. Furthermore we aim to lean towards a more
general partnership, with all partners assuming relatively equal responsibility,
while still encompassing a few aspects of a limited partnership in the form of
private investors who will invest money in return for a share in equity rather
than any responsibilities or debts.
