following headings:

1.3 The importance for the discussion of adolescence (8)

(25)

QUESTION 2

2.1 What do you understand under the term "psychology of education"? (3)

2.2 Different aspects of child and adolescent development can be identified. Although
these different aspects can be distinguished, they cannot be separated from one
another. What are these different aspects? (10)

2.3 Prepare a talk that you must give to parents on intelligence, including the newer views
on intelligence and factors that influence intelligence. What can parents and you as a
teacher do to enhance a child's intelligence? (6)

2.4 Adults usually think that the peer group poses some kind of threat to their adolescent
child and that the pressure of peers will have a negative influence and will harm the
relationship they have with their child. Discuss these fears with a group of parents and
explain the positive and negative influences of the relationship of the adolescent with
the peer group. Also give them hints as to what they as parents can do about the
negative influences of the peer group. (6)

(25)

QUESTION 3

3.1 An adolescent learner in your class scores low in her tests. You hear that she tells
other learners that she thinks her low scores are because you do not like her. How will
you handle this? Think of what you will say to her when you call her in. (5)

3.2 Adolescents have the cognitive ability to think about right and wrong and to judge
behaviour and behave according to their values – therefore, they begin to establish
their own set of values. Adolescent learners are sometimes hostile towards their
teachers and even openly aggressive. Think of a video that was on social media
showing how an adolescent learner did not want to obey the teacher to put her phone
away, bumping the teacher with her table.
