conceptualised as a set of mental processes that are carried out by the brain. These mental
processes include perception, thinking, decision making, problem solving, language,
attention, and memory…

Memory refers to the process by which information is encoded, stored, and retrieved. It is
essential to all our lives since it is involved in processing vast amounts of information, taking
many different forms, varying from visual images to sounds.

Mental processes, as we all know, are not physical entities. Hence, the question arises about
whether or not they can be studied scientifically, and since memory is an implicit process, a
hypothetical model or structure is required to understand how it functions. Hence, researchers
use memory models, which are fundamentally representations of memory, to understand the
complexities of this process.
