QUESTION 1:

1.1. Motivation:

The word Motivation is directly defined as “a reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a
particular way.” in the Oxford Dictionary.
Although there are multiple definitions for the word ‘motivation’, it roughly describes the goal
that a person wants to reach through means of ‘motivation’. Realising that goal and trying to
reach it through means of necessary effort is driven by motivation.

Being motivated means that you have a goal and you are driven and persistent to reach that goal
with hard work and vigour.
According to Santrock (2013) “Motivation is the reason why individuals behave, think and feel
the way they do.”

Motivation is the things that drive you to action and give you purpose to the goals which you
want to reach.

Motivation can either be internal or external, meaning that other people can motivate you to
reach a certain goal, or you can motivate yourself. External motivation can be caused by the
direct motivation from loved-ones or people close to you (even just in close proximity.) It can
also be from sources like social media, magazines, television, etc.
Internal motivation on the other hand starts with you. It begins with an idea and you continue to
want to achieve a goal through means of that idea. In this case you are self-driven and goal-
orientated to achieve that which you set yourself to achieve and most of the time requires a lot
of self-discipline.

1.2. Interpersonal Intelligence:

Intelligence means to be able to learn from experience and gain knowledge regarding the
subject. It also plays a role in your day-to-day adaptability and your problem-solving skills.
This implies that interpersonal intelligence is the ability to communicate effectively with others
through verbal and non-verbal communication styles. For a person to have high interpersonal
intelligence, it would mean that the person has a high understanding and sensitivity of other
people’s feelings and emotions.

Having high interpersonal intelligence also means that one is capable of making a distinction
between people due to their behaviours, actions, emotional patterns, body language and so
forth.

This also means that one must be able to adapt in social situations.
