Sad stories make good books
The Kite Runner is a story about a boy, Amir, who lives in Afghanistan. Amir and his
father are living together in a house in Kabul. Amir his father has two servants,
Hassan and Ali. Ali is also the father of Hassan. Amir and Hassan are best friends,
but Amir thinks that his father, Baba, likes Hassan more than he likes Amir. He is
very jealous because of this. He tries everything to get Baba his attention. You will
read more about this in the book.
I think that The Kite Runner is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. I
have not read many books, but this book of Hosseini was absolutely beautiful. It is a
emotional story about Amir who is living in complex privileged differences, because
of his family. He does not like this. This book is a real page-turner. You just can not
stop with reading in it because of the beautiful and real experiences.
This book also has a lot of strengths and weaknesses. In my opinion is the biggest
weakness of The Kite Runner the characters. Especially Amir. Amir is a very disloyal
friend against Hassan. You just can not identify with Amir. Hassan once said ‘’For
you, a thousand times over’’. This is one of the strongest quotes out of the book. It
was just so pure and heart-melting, particularly if you think about the fact that Amir is
nothing like Hassan. A strength of Hosseini his book is that you can learn a lot of this
book. You learn about friendship and betrayal. These themes are very special to read
about. This book also teach you a lot about Afghanistan and what is currently going
on in Afghanistan.
So, I really recommend this book. This story is an emotional roller coaster and is very
beautiful to read. The other books of Hosseini are also recommendable. Especially if
you like reading about Afghanistan. Hosseini has written a lot about this country.
