running plays a big role in the life of the little boy Amir, who is the main character.

Short summary of plot The book starts with a flash back where Amir (a rich little boy) and Hassan (the son of Ali the servant of
(max. 25 lines) in your own Amir's family) are best friends and play together every day, especially with kites. Amir is not a very good kite
words fighter, but Hassan is very good at it. Amir's father (Baba) finds Amir cowardly, Baba told his friend, Khan
that he wished Amir would be more like Hassan but Amir overheard this which made him jealous. Amir got
almost into a fight with a guy named Assef, but luckily Hassan stood up for Amir and saved him. In the
winter, when Amir wins the kite fight, Hassan went to get the kite Amir defeated. When he ran to find it he
said to Amir: "for you, a thousand times over". When Hassan didn't came back with the kite, Amir started to
look for him and found Hassan in a fight with Assef and his friends. Then Hassan got raped by Assef and
Amir didn't stop him but instead he run away and didn't help his best friend. After the tournament Amir's
relationship with Hassan became bad but the relationship with his father became better because he won the
tournament. Amir build up a lot of guilt for not having helped Hassan at the time he got raped. Then Amir
makes a plan to betray Hassan by leaving his new watch under his mattress. The next day Amir goes to his
father and tells him that he found his watch under Hassan's mattress, Hassan admits to this theft but Baba
immediately forgives him. Ali and Hassan decides to leave anyway. Later during the Soviet invasion Baba
and Amir left the country. They arrive in America and Baba works at the gas station and Amir graduated high
school. At an Afghan flea market, where Amir sells goods, he meets the daughter (Soraya) of General
Taheri, Amir falls in love with her and married her later in the story (Amir and Soraya are not able to get any
children of their own). Amir's father dies after Amir's marriage. Then one day, Khan calls Amir, saying he
must come back home to Kabul and so he did. Khan told Amir that Hassan had died and that Hassan was
actually Amir's half brother. He also tells Amir that Hassan has left a child behind (Sohrab) and Amir decides
