1. Learning mediator
Teachers will facilitate lessons in a way that is sensitive to diversity in the
classroom. A teacher will construct a creative and inspirational learning
environment that is appropriate for the learners. Lessons and communication
should be respectful regarding diversity. A teacher’s knowledge will be
represented in the subject content and various principles, strategies and
resources given in lessons.
Cynthia fulfills this role by introducing a new section of work to her senior class
which she has done a lot of research about and is excited to present to the class.

Interpreter and designer of learning programmes and materials
The teacher will comprehend and interpret the curriculum and lessons and will
identify the material and resources required in order to prepare suitable textual
and visual lessons for the classroom. The teacher will pace the lessons according
to the capabilities of all the students and give lessons in proper sequence.
Cynthia fulfills this role by preparing and finishing a worksheet for her class for
the following day and made copies of the worksheet for each learner.
Leader, administrator and manager
The teacher will manage the classroom and decide on the appropriate level of
learning dependent on the student capabilities. The teacher will carry out
administrative tasks effectively and will participate in school structures such as
decision making. The teacher will perform these tasks in a democratic, respectful
and supportive way taking in regard constant changes in circumstances and
needs within the school.

Scholar, researcher and lifelong learner
The teacher will continuously grow themselves on a personal, academic,
occupational and professional platform. This will aid in enhancing the teacher’s
teaching capabilities as it will broaden their knowledge.

Community, citizenship and pastoral role
The teacher will practice an attitude towards her peers and students that is
ethical, respectful and loving. The teacher will promote these behaviors to teach
the students how to treat other people. The teacher will lead by example. The
teacher will always uphold the constitutional laws and endorse democratic values
in and outside the classroom. The teacher will develop a supportive and enriching
environment for the learners, empowering and motivating them. The teacher will
