TEP 2: WRITE A COMMENT ABOUT YOUR FOOTPRINT
According www.footprintclaulator.org accessed 27 June 2021 my ecological footprint is 7.5
global hectares per capita and I will need 4.1 earths if everyone lived the way I do and my
personal overshoot day is on the 25th March I did a questionnaire and my ecological
footprint was 7.5 global hectares my personal earth overshoot day is on the 25 march and if
everyone live like my me, we would need 4.1 earths. These results were very shocking to me
because I have always believed that I always try to do the right thing and I always think
about the environment and how things around me are affected by my actions and these
results are an eye opener and showed me that I am contributing to some environmental
problems that we have. It seems like I am not even trying hard to do the right thing and it is
very saddening that I used to think that I am contributing to the benefit of the society like
recycling, saving water, not wasting food, etc.
PART A: YOU NEED TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR FOOTPRINT BASED ON WHAT YOU
HAVE JUST READ IN THE “SUSTAINABILITY?” SECTION. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS?
The Is a method promoted by the Global Footprint Network to measure human demand on
natural capital for example the quantity of nature it takes to a person or economy. My is 7.5
which places me in the second quadrant which is very high and bad because it means that I
am unsustainable and still developing. I do not feel proud at all because We are not
satisfying the needs of the people and compromising the potentiality of the future
generations to meet their needs the lives of the future generation. It is even scarier to think
that there are many people out there who do not care and have no knowledge on how their
lifestyles have detrimental effect on the environment. I do not think the ecological footprint
quiz think that the quiz is effective enough for instant widespread change however it can
contribute to creating an awareness that could result in people being considerate enough of
their use of the accessible environmental resources. I can say that thee quiz really
challenged my way of thinking and what it takes to be environmentally friendly.

“SO WHERE DO I FIT IN IN THIS?
Looking back at assignment 6, I was very positive for the option on saving the rhinos as it is
the right thing to do. Looking at the bigger picture now in saving our environment I do not
think I am doing the right thing because personally, I believe in doing right things and doing
a greater good for everyone and it is true reflection of my values however there are some
parts in my life that I feel that they need a room for improvement in order to fulfill the
requirements for sustainability. Looking at the 4.1 earths that I need it seems like I am not
even trying to do good. I now realize that I need to take active steps to be sustainable. I will
