1.1 a) Modern democracy = Modern democracy is characterized by two abilities that
fundamentally distinguish them from previous forms of government: the ability to
intervene in one's own society and the recognition of its sovereignty by an
international legal framework composed of equally sovereign states. It can be a
process where teachers and students work together to rebuild the curriculum to

b) Citizenship education = Citizenship education highlights the institutional role of

1.2. Soft notions are strategies that include the use of skills, aimed at attracting and

not about written laws or strategies, but about personal sacrifices. Hard notions are
strategies that are adopted through the use of force, coercion, and bribery as a
means of persuading the community to participate. They are generally based on law
and enforced by brute force and force.
1.3. Critical Cosmopolitan Citizenship Education is a transformative education
method that enables students to become global citizens by actively participating in
local, national, and global communities as they seek to build a better world.
1.4. High-quality civics education helps provide students with knowledge, skills,
and understanding, and prepares them to participate fully and actively in society. In
particular, civics education must cultivate students' keen awareness and
understanding of democracy, government, and how to formulate and maintain laws.

2.1 Democracy in ancient Greece was very simple. This means that all the citizens
voted all the laws. All citizens must vote for all laws, not for representatives like we
do. However, they have officials to run the government. The word "democracy"
comes from two Greek words

citizens of a country should play an active role in their country’s government and

2.2 Apartheid was a political and social system during the rule of the white minority
in South Africa. It imposes racial discrimination on non-whites, focusing on skin
color and facial features.
2.3 The main objective of democratic education is to cultivate democratic citizens,
who can not only objectively understand a large number of social, political,
economic and cultural issues, but can also form their own independent judgments
on these complex issues. Education for democracy is an educational concept, in
which democracy is both the goal and the method of teaching. It brings democratic
values to education, which may include the right to self-determination within an
egalitarian community, and values such as justice, respect, and trust.
Interestingly, once factors such as economic background, family status, and gender
are controlled for, the results show that race is not the deciding factor. Instead, the
most important impact was found to be related to education: students'
understanding of the democratic process, the level of discussions and debates
encouraged in the classroom, extracurricular activities, and their expectations for
future educational prospects were affected. They aspire to live in a democratic
country.
2.4 Civic education provides people with the knowledge and skills to understand,
challenge and participate in a democratic society, which includes politics, the
media, civil society, the economy and the law. Democracies need active, informed
and responsible citizens who are willing and able to take responsibility for
themselves and their communities and contribute to the political process.
