As a teacher, I want to create an atmosphere for learning that is fun and interactive. I
want my students to be excited about class and interested in their studies, therefore
creating a positive learning environment. As I was once a student myself, I continuously
looked up to teachers who made me enjoy class and created a passion to come to
school every day. Therefore, I wanted to become a teacher in order to make learning
fun again and to mold students into courageous learners, that will influence the rest of
their life. My passion in teaching lies in the subject of history and geography for grades
7-9 (ages 13-15). The reason for this is that these students are at an important age
where they become more independent for their own studies and they start to uncover
their passions, yet they are still wanting to have fun and be a child. To some students,
social sciences may not be their favourite topic, but I believe one should always know
where they come from to understand where they are going. Geography teaches children
more about the environment they live in, knowledge that I still can use today. In
classrooms today, an active learning style is the best learning style that can be utilized
throughout all age groups and subjects. Students studying social sciences will be able
to interact with the teacher and other classmates, be able to openly express their ideas
and understanding of topics and can freely ask questions. This type of participation will
ensure students are not bored in the class, they are paying attention as not only the
view of the teacher is expressed and they will be able to learn a few things from their
fellow classmates. During my time in a classroom, students are so well informed that
they teach me things that I did not know. Teaching is a vital profession in South Africa
as you can mold young minds and inform them of important topics in the country. A
well-educated and well-informed student will be able to create a positive impact on the

future of South Africa as they will be able to make educated decisions regarding
careers, deciding what is right for their future and the future of the country. I believe I
will be able to teach students what is right from wrong, how to make well informed
decisions, teach them the importance of education and nature all their talents and skills
in hopes they will excel in their school career.

3.1 One teaching, one assisting- the educator explains the work to their students and
then the student teacher will go between the students and assist the students who are
struggling with the work. This works well in a classroom environment as the student
teacher will learn more about how to present the class but will still be useful in being
able to assist students.
Station teaching- both teachers are allocated a specific section and the students go
between the teachers to get the information. Students retain more information as they
